Fire Alarm & AOV Commissioning Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm & AOV Commissioning Engineer to join a reputable security services business. You will work on a variety of client sites across London, delivering commissioning, testing and certification of life‑safety systems.

Key responsibilities

• Commission and certify fire alarm and Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) systems.
• Program and test life‑safety equipment to ensure compliance.
• Produce clear cause‑and‑effect documentation.
• Interpret technical drawings and site mark‑ups confidently.
• Collaborate with Design, Projects and Maintenance teams.
• Participate in an on‑call rota (one week in every eight) and respond to emergency call‑outs.
• Complete required paperwork, vehicle checks and project sign‑offs.

Required profile

• Proven experience commissioning fire alarm systems to BS 5839.
• Good understanding of AOV systems, fan motors, inverters and detection equipment.
• Hands‑on installation or commissioning experience on live sites.
• Ability to work independently and make on‑site decisions.
• Computer literate and comfortable with digital reporting tools.
• Full UK driving licence.
