Fire and Life Safety Systems Engineer

About the role

Honeywell is seeking a Fire and Life Safety Systems Engineer to join its Building Automation team in Cambridge. You will be responsible for maintaining, commissioning and fault‑finding on fire safety systems at customer sites, acting as the first line of escalation for GENT‑supported products and delivering timely repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day servicing, calibrations, preventative maintenance and fault diagnosis on Honeywell and third‑party fire safety equipment.
• Commission and program Gent Vigilon systems, including software configuration and setup.
• Identify improvement opportunities, prepare small‑work quotes and ensure accurate pricing.
• Provide on‑site support Monday‑Friday with an on‑call rota for out‑of‑hours emergencies.
• Report potential future failures and recommend enhancements to improve system reliability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fire systems service engineering, including maintenance, fault diagnosis and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of BS 5839‑1 standards and related fire safety regulations.
• Ability to work safely in customer‑controlled environments and follow health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required skills

• Gent Vigilon system configuration and programming.
• BS 5839‑1 (install, commission, maintain) compliance.
• Aspirating Smoke Detection systems.
• Emergency Voice Communication System (EVCS).
• Public Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA) systems.
