Fire Engineer (UK)

About the role

Arup is seeking Fire Engineers to join its UK team and contribute to a diverse portfolio of high‑impact projects, ranging from heritage restorations to innovative timber constructions. You will work within a collaborative, hybrid environment, supporting the delivery of fire safety engineering services across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Apply fire science principles to real‑world projects, from building appraisal to design fire scenarios.
• Develop and implement fire safety strategies in partnership with design teams and stakeholders.
• Interpret and apply relevant fire safety legislation and design guidance.
• Support the fire safety team in delivering engineering services for a range of client projects.
• Engage in research, digital tool development, and knowledge sharing to advance fire safety practice.

Required profile

• Working towards Chartered Engineer status or a strong motivation to achieve it.
• Relevant qualification in fire engineering or a related discipline.
• Ability to understand the total fire safety concept from brief through construction.
