Firefighter

About the role

The Firefighter provides Category II Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (RFFS) at Penzance Heliport, supporting aircraft incidents, passenger handling and overall site safety. The role is shift‑based, six days a week, and works closely with ground‑operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain Category II RFFS readiness, respond to aircraft fires, fuel spills and rescues.
• Operate, inspect and maintain firefighting vehicles, rescue equipment and emergency systems.
• Support passenger check‑in, safety briefings, baggage handling and aircraft turnarounds.
• Deliver professional customer service and resolve enquiries on the heliport.
• Inspect operational areas, report hazards and promote a strong safety culture.
• Assist with grounds maintenance, site presentation and heliport parking management.
• Complete mandatory training, exercises and competency assessments to meet CAA, ICAO and company standards.

Required profile

• Live within commuting distance of Penzance Heliport.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Experience in a safety‑critical, customer‑facing operational team.
• Clear communication, strong teamwork and professional approach.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and perform firefighting and manual‑handling duties.
• Willingness to achieve and maintain CAT II RFFS competence and required medical and fitness standards.
