Fitness Instructor – Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre

About the role

GLL is seeking a motivated Fitness Instructor to work at Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre in Belfast. You will inspire members to achieve their personal fitness goals, deliver safe exercise sessions and build lasting relationships through personalised support.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and verify client information, analysing fitness levels and aspirations.
• Set short, medium and long‑term SMART goals in partnership with clients.
• Design, deliver and evaluate safe, appropriate exercise programmes for individuals and groups.
• Provide 1‑2‑1 inductions, group classes and equipment introductions.
• Monitor technique, correct unsafe movements and suggest adaptations for individual needs.
• Maintain equipment, complete necessary paperwork and produce programme cards for members.

Required profile

• Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Fitness Instruction or equivalent qualification.
• Passionate about health and fitness with a people‑focused attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate diverse client groups.
• Willingness to undergo training to meet GLL’s standards.

Required skills

• Ability to design safe, progressive exercise programmes for individuals and groups.
• Knowledge of proper exercise technique and equipment usage.
• Capability to assess client fitness levels and tailor programmes accordingly.
• Strong organisational skills for record‑keeping and programme documentation.
