Fixed Income Trader – Build a New Desk in London

About the role

An international bank is establishing a Fixed Income trading desk in London and is looking for an experienced Fixed Income Trader to lead its development. You will shape product focus, market strategy and drive the growth of the desk while working closely with senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and grow the Fixed Income trading capability from the ground up.
• Trade Government and Corporate Bonds across relevant markets.
• Manage Rates, FX and Money Market activity.
• Support the bank’s sterling lending and hedging requirements.
• Contribute to the design of trading strategies, processes and risk frameworks.
• Identify growth opportunities in partnership with Treasury and senior stakeholders.
• Define future direction, product coverage and market focus for the desk.
• Assist in expanding the trading function as the team grows.

Required profile

• Proven Fixed Income trading experience within a bank, treasury or financial markets environment.
• Strong knowledge of Government Bonds, Corporate Bonds, Rates, FX and Money Markets.
• Experience managing risk and supporting balance‑sheet or hedging activities.
• Commercial and entrepreneurial mindset with ability to build new capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Comfort operating in a highly visible role with significant autonomy.
• Desire to play a leading role in shaping and growing a trading platform.
