Fleet Risk Manager

About the role

Doocey Plant Hire is seeking a Fleet Risk Manager to act as a Fleet Driver Trainer & Coach. The role focuses on improving driver competency, confidence and safety across the company’s fleet through structured coaching, assessments and performance monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out driving assessments for new starters before independent duties.
• Conduct periodic reassessments of existing drivers to maintain and raise standards.
• Deliver 1‑to‑1 coaching sessions for high‑risk or under‑performing drivers.
• Perform targeted assessments after road traffic collisions, near‑misses, complaints or telematics alerts.
• Complete on‑road ride‑alongs and practical assessments as required.
• Identify unsafe behaviours, driver weaknesses and training needs.
• Produce individual improvement plans and monitor progress.
• Provide refresher training, toolbox talks and post‑incident retraining.
• Offer technical coaching on hazard awareness, observation, anticipation, speed control, safe manoeuvring, reversing safely and defensive driving techniques.
• Review telematics reports, dash‑cam footage, driver scorecards, incident records and complaints.

Required profile

• Proven experience in driver training and coaching.
• Ability to assess driver performance and deliver constructive feedback.
• Strong analytical skills for reviewing telematics data and dash‑cam footage.
• Commitment to reducing road traffic collisions, insurance claims and vehicle damage.
