FOI Specialist (3-month contract) – Glasgow

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) specialist to join our team in Glasgow for a three‑month contract. You will manage complex information requests from receipt through to closure, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and delivering clear, defensible responses.

Key responsibilities

• Handle FOI/EIR requests end‑to‑end, providing advice on disclosure, exemptions and public interest tests.
• Gather information across the organisation, assess risk and coordinate internal reviews.
• Redact sensitive material and prepare final responses that meet legal standards.
• Maintain accurate case records and meet statutory deadlines.
• Provide guidance to colleagues on FOI/EIR best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing FOI/EIR cases, preferably in a public‑sector, regulated or utility environment.
• Strong knowledge of FOI, EIR, UK GDPR and Data Protection legislation.
• Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to handle high‑profile or sensitive requests with sound judgement.
