Food and Beverage Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Food and Beverage Assistant to join our team at Sonning Gardens Care Home in Reading. In this role you will help residents enjoy their meals and maintain a pleasant dining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents in selecting meal options and support them during dining.
• Set up dining tables according to standard operating procedures.
• Keep the front‑of‑house area clean, tidy and well presented, clearing and replenishing crockery throughout the day.
• Refresh the bistro with homemade cakes, biscuits, finger foods and fresh fruit as needed.
• Monitor and respect residents’ dietary requirements.

Required profile

• Demonstrates high standards of personal hygiene.
• Shows compassion and a commitment to delivering quality culinary service to residents.
• Values caring, supportive, honest, respectful and accountable behaviour.

Required skills

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable).
