Food Product Developer – Middlesbrough

About the role

We are seeking three enthusiastic Food Product Developers to join our New Product Development team in Middlesbrough. You will turn innovative ideas into market‑ready food products, working closely with customers and cross‑functional teams from concept through launch.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new and improve existing food products according to customer specifications, budgets and timelines.
• Generate fresh product ideas and maintain a pipeline of NPD projects.
• Participate in internal and customer innovation workshops.
• Act as the primary contact for customer product development teams.
• Collaborate with Technical, Commercial, Operations and Procurement to ensure feasibility and successful delivery.
• Lead product presentations for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Address challenges related to scalability, manufacturing processes and sustainability.
• Maintain accurate NPD documentation, project records and benchmarking reports.
• Monitor market trends, consumer insights and competitor activity to drive innovation.
• Travel to UK manufacturing sites and customer locations as required.

Required profile

• Experience in food product development, preferably for supermarket own‑label ranges.
• Background in retail, manufacturing or FMCG environments.
• Strong customer‑facing and relationship‑building abilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills.
• High attention to detail and solid analytical capabilities.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.

What we offer

• Competitive salary between £30,000 and £45,000 per year.
• Full‑time, Monday‑Thursday 8:30‑17:00, Friday 8:00‑16:00 schedule.
