Food Service Assistant – Hospital Dining & Café

About the role

The Food Service Assistant will work in the busy dining rooms of Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and the Mountainhall Café. You will help create a welcoming environment for staff, patients and visitors while supporting the delivery of high‑quality catering across both sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide friendly, efficient service to staff, patients and visitors in the hospital dining room and café.
• Assist with the preparation, presentation and replenishment of meals and refreshments.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all food service areas.
• Support the catering team in meeting daily service targets and special dietary requirements.
• Help ensure smooth operation across both locations, including stock handling and waste management.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic attitude with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to work as part of a hard‑working team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to work across two sites within the NHS.
