Food Tech Cover Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Food Technology Cover Supervisor to join a well‑resourced secondary school in Birmingham. This full‑time, temporary position involves maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences, ensuring that both practical and theoretical Food Technology lessons run smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise Food Technology lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4 using pre‑prepared lesson plans.
• Keep students engaged and ensure they complete the work set by the class teacher.
• Support practical cooking sessions while upholding high health and safety standards.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement, behaviour, and lesson outcomes.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people in a school or similar educational setting is desirable.
• Background in Food Technology, catering, hospitality, or a related field is an advantage.
• Confidence in managing groups of students in both classroom and practical environments.
• Strong communication, organisational, and behaviour‑management abilities.
• Current enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
