Food Technician

About the role

The Food Technician provides high‑quality technical support within the Food Technology Department of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group. Working on‑site in the college kitchen, you will assist staff and students during practical lessons, ensuring a safe, clean and compliant learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, organise and maintain kitchen equipment, ingredients and resources for practical sessions.
• Ensure all kitchen areas meet health, safety and food hygiene regulations, including regular deep‑cleaning.
• Monitor and manage stock levels, liaise with suppliers, order ingredients and store them according to food safety standards.
• Support students during practical activities, including those with additional needs, and assist with demonstrations and events.
• Maintain and service kitchen equipment, and keep detailed records of usage and maintenance.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Food Technology, Catering or a related subject.
• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Reliable team player with strong organisational abilities.
• Commitment to creating a safe and positive learning environment.
