Food Technician – Part‑time (Term‑time)

About the role

The Food Technician will support the Food Technology Department at Stafford College, delivering high‑quality technical assistance during practical lessons and events. Working on‑site, you will ensure the kitchen environment is safe, clean and fully compliant with health, safety and food hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, organise and maintain food ingredients, materials and kitchen equipment for practical sessions.
• Monitor and manage stock levels, liaise with suppliers and place orders as required.
• Ensure all kitchen areas meet health‑and‑safety and food‑hygiene regulations, including regular deep‑cleaning.
• Support students, including those with additional needs, during practical activities and demonstrations.
• Assist with the set‑up and delivery of lessons, events and demonstrations, maintaining equipment in good working order.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Food Technology, Catering or a related subject.
• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) or comparable qualifications.
• Ability to work 25 hours per week during term‑time (approximately 39 weeks).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food hygiene regulations and best practices.
• Stock management and ordering procedures.
• Operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
