Food Technology Technician – Secondary School (Cambridgeshire)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Food Technology Technician to join a busy secondary school in Cambridgeshire. The role supports the Design & Technology department by ensuring practical food lessons run safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, equipment and materials for each food lesson.
• Assist teaching staff during practical sessions when required.
• Maintain hygiene, cleanliness and food‑safety standards throughout the kitchen.
• Order, receive and manage stock and resources within the allocated budget.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is correctly maintained and stored.
• Support health‑and‑safety compliance, including risk assessments.
• Clear and clean practical areas after lessons.

Required profile

• Experience in food preparation, catering or a school environment (desirable).
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive, flexible and positive attitude.
• Relevant food safety qualification (Level 2 or above) is desirable.
