Fractional Finance Director – 1 day per week (6‑month FTC)

About the role

We are seeking a senior finance professional to join a fast‑growing construction business on a fractional basis – one day per week for an initial six‑month fixed‑term contract, with the potential to become permanent. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and shareholders, you will provide strategic financial leadership and help shape the company’s growth trajectory.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a three‑year growth strategy, improving profitability, margins and EBITDA.
• Strengthen forecasting, budgeting, and business planning processes.
• Increase visibility of project and contract profitability and enhance working capital management.
• Provide robust management information, KPI reporting and financial governance.
• Support board‑level strategic decision‑making and drive shareholder value creation.
• Mentor and develop the existing finance team, acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with previous Finance Director or CFO experience.
• Strong background in the construction sector, supporting businesses with revenues of £10‑50 million.
• Proven track record of improving profitability and cash generation in owner‑managed companies.
• Excellent board‑level communication and stakeholder management skills.
