Freedom to Speak Up Guardian

About the role

The Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Guardian provides a confidential, independent route for staff to raise concerns, share ideas and discuss issues that affect patient care and workplace wellbeing. Working across the Trust, the Guardian fosters an open culture where every voice is heard and respected.

Key responsibilities

• Support colleagues who wish to speak up about concerns, ideas or experiences.
• Provide impartial, confidential guidance and advice.
• Collaborate with leaders to ensure concerns are addressed appropriately.
• Analyse case themes to generate organisational learning and improvement.
• Deliver training, awareness sessions and communications that promote a positive speaking‑up culture.
• Produce reports and present insights to senior leaders and committees.
• Develop and support the network of Freedom to Speak Up Champions across the Trust.

• Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with staff at all levels.
