Freelance Site Manager for School Refurbishment (Preston)

About the role
We are looking for an experienced freelance Site Manager to lead a live school refurbishment project in Preston. The role is hands‑on, requiring you to coordinate trades, manage subcontractors and keep the site running safely and on schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Manage subcontractors and site labour
- Oversee health & safety and site compliance
- Deliver daily briefings and toolbox talks
- Monitor programme and quality standards
- Coordinate materials and site logistics
- Liaise with the client and project team
- Minimise disruption within a live school environment
- Support site activities to maintain project progress
Required profile
- Previous experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment projects
- Experience working within schools or occupied environments (desirable)
- Valid SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid at Work certifications
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple trades simultaneously
- Proactive, hands‑on approach to site management
