Fruit & Veg Team Leader

About the role

As a Fruit & Veg Team Leader you will be the driving force behind the produce department, ensuring high standards, low waste and excellent customer service. You will lead a team of assistants, coordinate daily activities and help create an engaging environment for shoppers and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain exceptional Fruit & Veg standards by handling stock, checking dates, rotating and storing produce correctly.
• Reduce waste through careful stock management and quality checks.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day communication within the department, including single‑stem, garden centre, plants and flowers sections.
• Build and motivate a team that delivers friendly, helpful service.
• Analyse department data to streamline processes, cut waste and mitigate risks.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and legal obligations.

Required profile

• Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
• Experience developing and leading teams, coaching for high performance.
• Solid operational knowledge of a Fruit & Veg department.
• Excellent planning, organising and workload management skills.
• Capability to meet strict deadlines.
