Functional Safety Engineer – Process Control Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Functional Safety Engineer with a strong background in process control systems to join an international OEM leader in safety‑critical technology. The role involves designing, configuring and commissioning Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) for industrial and manufacturing environments, while enjoying a hybrid working pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure and commission Safety Instrumented Systems across a range of process applications.
• Provide technical support for the integration of safety controllers and modular distributed control systems.
• Develop and deliver training on bespoke DCS software to internal teams and customers.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure compliance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards.
• Participate in on‑site commissioning activities, including occasional week‑long assignments away from the office.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Functional Safety Engineer or in a similar role within process control.
• Working knowledge of IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 safety standards.
• Background in designing and commissioning safety‑critical control systems.
• Valid UK driver’s licence.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
