Functional Skills Tutor – Part‑time in Liverpool

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate Functional Skills Tutor to deliver one‑to‑one English and Maths tuition to learners across Liverpool. This part‑time position supports students who are out of education, have additional learning needs, or require an alternative learning approach.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality 1:1 Functional Skills lessons in English and Maths.
• Tailor each session to the learner’s individual needs and goals.
• Engage and motivate students, building confidence and essential skills.
• Support learners with SEND, SEMH, or those disengaged from mainstream education.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and attendance.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), PGCE, or an equivalent teaching/tutoring qualification.
• Proven experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
• Previous UK teaching or tutoring experience, preferably with SEND or SEMH learners.
• Patient, adaptable, and engaging teaching style.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
• Two professional references related to work with children or young people.
