Funeral Attendant – Full/Part Time

About the role

Join the Co‑op funeral service crew in Duddingston, supporting families as they say goodbye to loved ones. The role is available on a full‑time (37.5 hrs/week) or part‑time (18.75 hrs/week) basis, Monday‑Friday, with on‑call duties that may include weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations with professionalism and empathy.
• Transport and bear coffins, and drive funeral vehicles safely.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Prepare coffins, engrave name plates, and ready the deceased for viewings and funerals.
• Enter and update client information in management applications daily.
• Lift, carry and move coffins using safe techniques and handling aids.

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence.
• Physical ability to perform manual lifting and handling tasks.
• Calm, compassionate response in emotional situations.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in record‑keeping.

Required skills

• Basic IT proficiency with computers, tablets, smartphones, printers and scanners.
