Funeral Attendant

About the role

Join the Co‑op funeral service crew in Woolwich and help families say a respectful goodbye to their loved ones. This full‑time position involves caring for the deceased, operating funeral vehicles and supporting the funeral process with dignity and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations in a compassionate manner.
• Transport and bear coffins, and drive funeral vehicles as required.
• Prepare coffins, engrave name plates and ready the deceased for viewings and funerals.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Accurately record client information in management applications.
• Safely lift, carry and move coffins using approved handling aids and techniques.

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence.
• Physical ability to perform manual lifting and handling tasks safely.
• Calm, compassionate response in emotional situations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Required skills

• IT skills – confident use of computers, tablets, smartphones, printers and scanners.
