Funeral Attendant – Part‑time (18‑25 hrs/week)

About the role

Join the Co‑op funeral service crew and help families say a respectful goodbye to their loved ones. This part‑time position works 18‑25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with on‑call duties outside core hours. No prior funeral experience is required – full training and ongoing support are provided.

Key responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations with professionalism and empathy.
• Bear coffins, drive funeral vehicles and ensure safe transportation.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Prepare coffins, engrave name plates and ready the deceased for viewings and funerals.
• Enter and update client information in management applications daily.
• Lift, carry and move coffins using safe techniques and handling aids.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Physical ability to perform manual lifting and handling tasks.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Calm, compassionate approach in emotional situations.

Required skills

• Basic IT proficiency – confident using computers, tablets, smartphones and related software.
