Funeral Service Crew – Full & Part‑time Roles

About the role

Join the Co‑op funeral service crew in Purley, supporting families as they say a final goodbye. No prior funeral industry experience is required – we provide full training, a supportive environment and a competitive hourly rate.

Key responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from a range of locations and scenarios with professionalism and empathy.
• Bear coffins on the day of the funeral and operate funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral, ensuring dignity and respect.
• Safely lift, carry and move coffins using handling aids and following health‑and‑safety guidance.
• Keep client management applications up‑to‑date with accurate information.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Physical ability to lift and move coffins safely.
• Comfort with direct contact with the deceased, performed with dignity and respect.

Required skills

• Good IT skills and confidence using computers, tablets, smartphones, printers and scanners.
