Funeral Service Crew – Full & Part‑Time Roles

About the role

Join the Co‑op funeral service crew to support families during a difficult time. No prior funeral experience is required – we provide full training and ongoing support for both full‑time and part‑time positions.

Key responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from a range of locations with professionalism and empathy.
• Bear coffins and operate funeral vehicles on the day of the service.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral, ensuring dignity and respect.
• Enter and update client information in management applications.
• Safely lift, carry and move coffins using handling aids and following health‑and‑safety guidance.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Physical ability to perform manual lifting and moving of coffins.
• Comfort with direct contact with the deceased and adherence to respectful practices.

Required skills

• Basic IT proficiency (use of computers, tablets, smartphones, printers and scanners).
