Funeral Service Crew – Full‑time Role in Putney

About the role
The Co‑op is looking for compassionate individuals to join its Funeral Service Crew in Putney. You will support families by handling the deceased with dignity while operating funeral vehicles and equipment. Full training and ongoing support are provided, so no prior funeral experience is required.
Key responsibilities
- Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional, empathetic manner.
- Bear coffins and drive funeral vehicles during services.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles and facilities.
- Prepare coffins, engrave name plates and ready the deceased for viewings and funerals.
- Enter and update client management information daily.
- Safely lift, carry and move coffins using handling aids and follow health‑and‑safety guidance.
Required profile
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Physical ability to perform manual lifting and handling tasks.
- Comfort with direct contact with the deceased and ability to act sensitively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Calm, compassionate response in emotional situations.

- Computer operation.
- Tablet usage.
- Smartphone usage.
- Printer operation.
- Scanner operation.
What we offer
- £14.99 per hour (including London allowance) plus benefits.
- Part‑time schedule: 18.75‑25 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 08:30‑16:30 with on‑call rota.
