Funeral Service Crew (Part‑time)

About the role

The Funeral Service Crew at Co‑op supports families in Torquay by handling all practical aspects of a funeral with dignity and respect. This part‑time position works a variety of shifts, Monday to Sunday, and includes on‑call duties.

Key responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from homes, hospitals or other locations in a professional, empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins and drive funeral vehicles safely.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Prepare coffins, engrave name plates and ready the deceased for viewings and services.
• Enter and update client information in management applications daily.
• Lift, carry and move coffins using safe techniques and handling aids.

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence.
• Physical ability to perform manual lifting and safe handling of coffins.
• Calm, compassionate response to emotional situations.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to health‑and‑safety regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard office technology (computers, tablets, smartphones, printers, scanners).
