GA4 Implementation Specialist – Contractor

About the role

This 6‑month contract supports a major digital transformation for a large multi‑brand e‑commerce organisation. Working 2‑3 days a week on‑site in London (or Derbyshire), you will combine hands‑on GA4 expertise with strategic oversight to build a scalable, best‑practice tracking framework.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a full audit of existing GA4, GTM, client‑side and server‑side tracking implementations.
• Assess and validate data collection, event tracking, attribution and reporting outputs.
• Identify gaps, inconsistencies and data‑quality issues, then define remediation plans.
• Produce implementation‑ready documentation, including tagging specifications and Jira tickets.
• Establish tagging governance frameworks (naming conventions, event catalogues, decision trees).
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to align tracking standards and prepare for CDP integration.

Required profile

• Strong experience auditing and implementing GA4 and Google Tag Manager in complex digital environments.
• Proven expertise with server‑side tracking and end‑to‑end data collection frameworks.
• Ability to translate technical findings into clear, developer‑ready specifications.
• Experience defining tagging governance, taxonomy and tracking standards at scale.
• Familiarity with Segment CDP or similar customer data platforms.
• Comfort operating at both hands‑on and strategic levels within MarTech.
