Garden Maintenance Team Leader

About the role

This is a hands‑on, full‑time position leading a garden maintenance crew for a growing horticultural business in North Essex. You will start by working on‑site, ensuring high‑quality delivery, and gradually take on planning, client interaction and broader operational responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support garden maintenance teams on‑site, delivering work to a consistently high standard.
• Carry out a wide range of practical maintenance tasks using tools and equipment safely.
• Support and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Assist with planning and organising daily workloads.
• Begin to support site visits, client communication and quoting.
• Contribute to process improvement, efficiency and team performance.

Required profile

• Experience in a practical, outdoor or trade‑based role.
• Confident using tools and equipment.
• Strong work ethic, reliability and natural leadership ability.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Motivated to grow into a more senior operational role.
• Horticulture experience is beneficial but not essential.
