GCSE/Functional Skills Tutor

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for reliable and qualified tutors to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills tuition in Maths, English or Science to young people in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area. The role offers flexible part‑time or full‑time hours, with sessions ranging from 2 to 15 hours per week per student.

Key responsibilities

• Provide GCSE and Functional Skills tuition in Maths, English or Science to young people in the BCP area.
• Deliver 2‑15 hours of personalised lessons per student each week, adapting the curriculum to individual needs.
• Conduct sessions in the learner’s home or suitable public venues such as libraries or cafés.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and progress.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a minimum of six months experience teaching or tutoring young people.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) covering children and adults.
• Strong subject knowledge in the chosen GCSE/Functional Skills area.
• Ability to tailor lessons to diverse abilities and learning styles.

Required skills

• Subject‑specific expertise in Maths, English or Science at GCSE level.
