General Assistant (Care Home)

About the role

As a General Assistant in a Barchester care home, you will support the delivery of high‑quality care and create a warm, homely environment for residents. The role is varied, covering housekeeping, cleaning, laundry and catering, ensuring each day runs smoothly for both staff and residents.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain clean and safe resident rooms, communal areas and bathrooms.
• Assist with laundry services, ensuring linens are fresh and well‑presented.
• Support catering operations, including meal preparation and serving.
• Carry out basic maintenance tasks and report any issues promptly.
• Provide friendly, respectful interaction with residents, helping them feel comfortable and valued.

Required profile

• Reliable, compassionate and eager to make a positive difference.
• Practical and willing to perform a range of hands‑on tasks.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including part‑time or full‑time shifts.
• Good communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude.
