General Assistant - Cleaning

About the role

Join Sanctuary Group as a General Assistant – Cleaning in our vibrant retirement community at The Windings, Helsby. This part‑time position supports residents by maintaining clean, safe communal spaces and providing courteous assistance with meals and drinks. You will work alongside a compassionate team that puts people first every day.

Key responsibilities

• Keep communal areas, offices and kitchens tidy and presentable.
• Carry out all cleaning duties to a high standard, following health‑and‑safety guidelines.
• Report any faults or hazards promptly to maintain a safe environment.
• Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and ensure equipment is used safely.
• Assist with preparing meals and drinks while respecting residents' privacy and dignity.

Required profile

• Experience with general cleaning duties (desirable).
• Some experience in a domestic or catering environment.
• Level 2 diploma in housekeeping or catering, or willingness to work towards it.
• Good interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
• Basic understanding of workplace health and safety.

Required skills

• Ability to follow cleaning procedures and health‑and‑safety protocols.

• £12.71 per hour (approximately £30,949 per year) for 20 hours per week.
