General Manager – Live Events Venue

About the role

The General Manager will lead O2 Academy Bournemouth, a historic 1,800‑capacity venue, ensuring it delivers unforgettable live music, club nights, sport and corporate events. You will drive commercial growth, oversee day‑to‑day operations and uphold the highest standards of health, safety and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the venue’s event diary to maximise bookings and revenue.
• Generate new business opportunities with established acts, emerging artists, club and corporate clients.
• Manage the wider team, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Oversee operational, health and safety, and licensing compliance.
• Control operating costs, budgeting and P&L performance.
• Maintain strong relationships with artists, promoters and community partners.

Required profile

• Proven success in a managerial or operational role within a high‑volume live‑music or club venue.
• Experience in booking, promoting and delivering live events.
• Strong financial acumen with a track record of cost control and budgeting.
• Personal licence holder with thorough knowledge of health, safety and licensing regulations.
• Excellent communication, diplomacy and leadership abilities.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
