General Manager – Luxury B&B

About the role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead an award‑winning eight‑bedroom luxury B&B set within the grounds of a Grade II* listed hall on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The role offers genuine autonomy to maintain five‑star standards while introducing fresh ideas to enhance the guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the B&B, ensuring exceptional accommodation and service quality.
• Manage the full guest journey from enquiries and bookings through check‑in, breakfast service and departure.
• Lead, train and develop a small housekeeping team and coordinate breakfast provision.
• Maximise occupancy by handling bookings, payments and relationships with online booking platforms.
• Build and maintain relationships with guests, local businesses and tourism partners to drive repeat business.
• Control supplies, procurement, maintenance coordination and overall operational requirements.
• Support sales and marketing initiatives, including online promotion and managing guest reviews.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, food hygiene and other regulatory standards.
• Use management information systems to monitor performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven supervisory or managerial experience in a high‑quality, customer‑focused hospitality setting such as a boutique hotel, B&B or restaurant.
• Highly organised, proactive and detail‑oriented with a strong commitment to personalised guest service.
• Comfortable leading a small team, implementing effective processes and resolving issues before they impact operations.
• Experience in food and beverage, sales and marketing, budgeting, procurement and facilities management is advantageous.

Required skills

• Knowledge of health & safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
• Ability to use hospitality management and booking systems for performance monitoring.
