General / Manual Machinist – Bedfordshire

About the role

We are seeking a reliable General/Manual Machinist to join our client’s team in Bedfordshire on a permanent, full‑time basis. The role involves operating manual lathes and mills, measuring components, and supporting production to high‑tolerance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes and milling machines safely and efficiently.
• Use measuring equipment and hand tools to verify dimensions.
• Maintain a clean, organised work area and adhere to health‑and‑safety guidelines.
• Assist with additional duties as required, including occasional overtime.

Required profile

• Physical fitness and reliability for a hands‑on workshop environment.
• Experience working with metals, preferably bronze and stainless steel.
• Ability to work to high‑accuracy tolerances.
• Basic understanding of CAD or CAM drawings is advantageous but not essential.

Required skills

• Manual lathe operation
• Manual milling operation
• Use of measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
• Hand‑tool proficiency
• Metalworking with bronze and stainless steel
• Reading CAD/CAM drawings (advantage)
• Basic CNC knowledge (advantage)

• Permanent contract with regular Monday‑Thursday 7:30‑16:30 and Friday 7:30‑12:30 schedule.
