General Practice Client Manager – St Albans

About the role

We are looking for a Client Manager to join our well‑established accountancy firm in St Albans. The role combines client relationship management with a broad range of accounting, tax and advisory work. Ideal candidates have a general practice background and enjoy variety.

Key responsibilities

• Manage your own portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Prepare and review year‑end accounts.
• Handle corporation tax and personal tax work.
• Submit VAT returns and provide Making Tax Digital support.
• Perform bookkeeping and produce management accounts where required.
• Advise clients on cloud accounting software.
• Act as the primary point of contact for client enquiries.
• Identify opportunities to add value beyond basic compliance.
• Collaborate closely with directors and the wider team.

Required profile

• Experience working in a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong accounts preparation experience.
• Good understanding of tax, VAT and general compliance work.
• Confident client communication skills.
• ACA/ACCA qualified, part‑qualified or qualified by experience considered.
• Reliable, personable and comfortable working as part of a supportive team.
