General SEN Teacher (KS3) – Temporary, North Tyneside

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated General Teacher (SEN) to join a welcoming school in North Tyneside. The role is based in a specialist provision for Key Stage 3 pupils with Special Educational Needs and runs from September to Christmas 2026, four days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to a range of SEN, SEMH and ASD needs.
• Create a safe, supportive and engaging classroom environment.
• Support pupils’ academic, emotional and social development.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Monitor progress and adapt learning to achieve individual outcomes.
• Promote positive behaviour management and pupil engagement.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience working with pupils with SEN, SEMH, ASD or additional learning needs.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Patient, nurturing and flexible approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
