General SEN/SEMH Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient General SEN/SEMH Teacher to join our specialist team in Stockport. You will work in a supportive environment, delivering differentiated lessons that meet the academic and personal needs of pupils with special educational needs and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons.
• Support pupils with a range of SEN and SEMH needs.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
• Develop positive relationships that promote trust, confidence and engagement.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and promote emotional wellbeing.
• Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress and attainment.
• Collaborate with parents, support staff and external agencies.
• Contribute to EHCP reviews and individual support plans.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and positive outcomes for all pupils.
