Generic Adult Social Worker – AMHP (Leicester)

About the role

Our client, Leicester City Council, is seeking a Generic Adult Social Worker to join its Advanced Mental Health Practitioner service. Working as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) within the Core AMHP Team, you will act as the first point of contact for referrals and manage Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments across a range of settings.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a duty AMHP rota and respond to incoming referrals.
• Review and consider MHA requests, arranging and conducting assessments.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and associated paperwork for each case.
• Present tribunal reports when required.

Required profile

• Fully registered social worker with AMHP qualification.
• Experience in adult social work and mental health assessments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and assessment procedures.
• Strong report‑writing and documentation skills.
