Geography Teacher – 12‑month Maternity Cover

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Geography teacher to cover a 12‑month maternity leave at a mainstream secondary school in Barnoldswick. The role starts in September 2026 and involves delivering engaging lessons to Key Stages 3 and 4 while supporting the wider humanities department.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated Geography lessons in line with the national curriculum.
• Monitor, assess and record student progress, providing timely feedback.
• Contribute to a positive learning environment and uphold high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
• Collaborate with department colleagues on planning and curriculum development.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• A degree in Geography or a related subject.
• Experience teaching Geography at secondary level (including newly qualified teachers).
• Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to raising standards.
