George & General Merchandise Manager

About the role

As the George & General Merchandise Manager at Asda, you will lead the George and GM departments to deliver a stylish, seamless shopping experience for customers. You will be responsible for driving sales, managing stock, and ensuring visual standards are met while fostering an inclusive team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team to provide knowledgeable, friendly service to shoppers.
• Maintain high visual merchandising standards and create engaging seasonal displays.
• Use sales data and market insight to make informed decisions on stock levels, layout and promotions.
• Collaborate with store leadership to ensure consistent, high‑performing store operations.
• Champion health, safety and compliance across the department.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing or supervising in a retail clothing or general merchandise environment.
• Strong eye for detail and visual presentation.
• Ability to interpret data to improve performance.
• Collaborative mindset with a passion for developing team members.
• Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and evenings.
