Geotechnical Engineer – Contract / Interim

About the role

We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer with strong geotechnical experience to join a national engineering design and consulting firm on a 14‑month contract based in Scotland's Central Belt. The successful candidate will work on large infrastructure projects, supervising junior engineers and ensuring high‑quality technical delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the design work of junior geotechnical engineers.
• Review designs and drawings for compliance with standards, contractual requirements and client expectations.
• Participate in design reviews, site meetings and on‑site inspections.
• Provide technical guidance and ensure best practice across all geotechnical deliverables.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑graduate experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Degree‑qualified (BSc or MSc) in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Civil Engineer status.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to start on short notice.
