GL Accountant – General Ledger Specialist

About the role

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant will ensure the accuracy and completeness of the company’s General Ledger. Working within the Transactions & Reporting pillar, you will support the Finance Manager to deliver a clean, controlled month‑end close each month.

Key responsibilities

• Post all month‑end journals, including payroll accruals, pre‑payments, depreciation and intercompany entries.
• Maintain and reconcile intercompany balances across all Global Expansion entities.
• Run monthly foreign‑exchange revaluation for multi‑currency balances and post resulting gains/losses.
• Complete and sign‑off bank reconciliations for every entity, ensuring timely matching and clearance.
• Own the balance‑sheet reconciliation schedule and substantiate material balances each month.
• Assist the Finance Manager in preparing the monthly management accounts pack (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Prepare working papers and schedules for the annual audit.
• Identify recurring reconciliation issues and support automation of manual GL processes.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) actively studying preferred; strong technical skills may substitute for formal qualification.
• Solid understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping and month‑end close processes.
• Experience posting journals, completing bank reconciliations and managing balance‑sheet accounts in a multi‑currency environment.
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting software.
