Global Acquisitions Director – Physics

About the role

We are partnering with a leading international academic publisher to appoint a Global Acquisitions Director for Physics. This senior position will shape the strategic acquisition of books, journals and digital content worldwide, ensuring the portfolio aligns with market demand and the publisher’s editorial vision.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global acquisitions strategy for physics titles across print and digital formats.
• Identify, evaluate and secure high‑quality manuscripts, proposals and research content.
• Build and nurture relationships with authors, research institutions and thought leaders worldwide.
• Collaborate with marketing, production and editorial teams to bring titles to market on schedule.
• Lead and mentor a team of acquisition and production editors.
• Monitor industry trends, competitor activity and emerging research areas to inform priorities.
• Negotiate publishing contracts and manage author onboarding processes.

Required profile

• Degree level or higher in Physics or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in acquisitions or editorial roles within scholarly publishing, specifically in physics.
• Proven track record of acquiring successful physics titles and managing author relationships.
• Strong understanding of academic publishing markets, trends and open‑access models.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.
