Goods Inwards Inspector (12‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Goods Inwards Inspector for a 12‑month contract based in Stevenage. You will work with a leading defence and aerospace supplier, ensuring that incoming materials meet purchase order specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that goods received from suppliers comply with purchase order criteria and contractual conditions.
• Interpret assembly drawings, checking dimensional tolerances and machining accuracy.
• Inspect finishes, paint quality, and surface condition to identify defects.
• Carry out first‑off inspections and produce related quality control documentation.
• Complete all paperwork for delivered items and ensure inspection timelines are met.
• Segregate defective items, raise defect reports and maintain audit trails.
• Perform PCB inspections and uphold manufacturing process procedures.

Required profile

• Formal technical engineering or craft apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3, TR23/TR21, or HNC.
• Experience in goods inspection, preferably within defence or aerospace environments.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.

Required skills

• SAP (literate)
