GPU Physical Design Engineer

About the role

Apple’s Silicon Technologies group is seeking a GPU Physical Design Engineer to lead the implementation of next‑generation graphics processors. You will translate RTL into silicon, ensuring high performance, power efficiency, and area optimization for Apple devices.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Front‑End teams to understand architecture and influence early floorplanning.
• Develop and apply best‑in‑class physical design flows for performance, power, and area (PPA) optimization.
• Create and maintain design guidelines, checklists, and methodology documentation.
• Lead place‑and‑route activities, set targets, and coordinate across domains such as timing, STA, and block integration.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve physical design and flow issues, driving solutions to completion.

Required profile

• BSc/MEng or equivalent in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience across the full ASIC implementation flow, including synthesis, DFT insertion, floorplanning, clock and power distribution, place‑and‑route, and sign‑off.
• Strong understanding of multi‑voltage, power‑gated, and power‑retention techniques.
• Experience with hierarchical and top‑down design approaches and IP integration from internal and external sources.
