Graduate Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Elwood Technologies is seeking a Graduate Backend Software Engineer to join its fast‑growing, FCA‑regulated platform for digital asset trading. Based in London, you will rotate across internal engineering teams, gaining exposure to backend systems and market connectivity while working on real‑world trading solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance backend services across the Elwood technology stack.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to design, build, and maintain new features.
• Deliver code on a rapid release cycle, meeting tight deadlines.
• Introduce and evaluate new technologies and continuous‑improvement practices.
• Work closely with quants, product, algorithm developers, infrastructure and support teams to deliver trading solutions.
• Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, integration, automated testing and maintenance.

Required profile

• Degree in a STEM discipline.
• 6‑18 months of software engineering experience, including internships or placements.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Passion for FinTech, crypto and digital assets.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one object‑oriented or functional language (C#, C++, Java, Python, Golang, Rust).
• Solid understanding of computer‑science fundamentals such as algorithms and data structures.
