About the role
As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer you will own mechanical subsystems for a particle accelerator and target station, guiding each project from concept through design, analysis, manufacture, testing and integration. You will work hands‑on in the workshop as well as at the drawing board, ensuring that designs are proven in real hardware.
Key responsibilities
- Act as Responsible Engineer for mechanical subsystems, including vacuum vessels, precision alignment systems, vacuum stages, support structures, radiation shielding and cable brackets.
- Perform static structural FEA, validate models against test data and produce GD&T‑based mechanical drawings with tolerance stack‑up analysis.
- Machine parts on mills and lathes, design and build tooling, and work across CNC, sheet‑metal, welding and brazing processes.
- Move quickly, avoiding unnecessary gates and operating as a generalist across the full system.
Required profile
- Recent graduate with hands‑on engineering experience.
- Ability to take full ownership of projects and work pragmatically under tight timelines.
- Willingness to work both in design environments and on the shop floor.
