Graduate Mental Health Assistant – Support Children with SEN

About the role
We are seeking a recent or final‑year graduate in Psychology or Criminology to join a primary school in Chesham as a Mental Health Assistant. The role runs for the full academic year, starting September 2026, providing hands‑on experience supporting pupils with special educational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Condition and behavioural difficulties.
- Work alongside teachers, SEN professionals and therapists to deliver academic and emotional support.
- Assist in implementing individual education plans and monitoring pupil progress.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
Required profile
- Graduate or final‑year student in Psychology, Criminology or a related discipline.
- Genuine passion for working with children with additional needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience and ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Commitment to a full‑time, 12‑month placement.
